it@coops: Information Technology for Asian Cooperatives

The project it@coops - Information Technology for South East Asian cooperatives- provides poverty-oriented cooperatives in Southeast Asia with basic and advanced IT skills and stimulates virtual cooperation. The programme was initiated by the Asian Women in Cooperative Development Forum(AWCF) and InWEnt - Capacity Building International, Germany. It is implemented jointly with the Credit Union League of Thailand (CULT), Thailand, the Forum for Indonesian Cooperatives Movement (FORMASI Indonesia), Indonesia and the National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO), Philippines. The initial phase from 2004 to 2007 was financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). [Introduction]

  • 2008 Updates on AWCF’s it@coops program [it@coops]

    As a backgrounder, the “it@coops program” was a brainchild of AWCF in collaboration with Capacity Building International, Germany (InWEnt), and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Having gone through the first phase of the program, implemented from 2004 to 2007, the “it@coops Project” also known as “Information Technology for Southeast Asian Co-operatives Project” was able to affect significant changes in the field of co-op development through the infusion of different information technology (IT) applications in the entrepreneurship work of co-operatives and non-government organizations (NGOs).

    As part of attracting more people to be co-op members, IT specialists who had been part of the “it@coops Project” have focused on developing and/or enhancing their co-op website as a means of promoting co-op products and services and at the same time, encouraging increased deposits and savings from actual and potential co-op members.

  • it@coops Steering Committee goes to the Philippines [it@coops]

    To culminate the AWCF-InWEnt “it@coops Project” which was implemented in Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines since 2004, the it@coops Steering Committee held their 6th Steering Committee Meeting at Meralco Management and Leadership Development Center (MMLDC) Foundation, Inc., Antipolo City, Philippines on 22-23 November 2007.

  • it@coops Regional Forum held [it@coops]

    Staff of co-operatives from Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines who were trained as Information Technology (IT) Specialists by the "Information Technology for Southeast Asian Co-operatives (it@coops) Project" gathered together for the "Regional Forum on it@coops: Empowering Co-operatives through Information Technology" held November 19-21, 2007, Antipolo City, Philippines.
